“We’re all a little weird. And life is weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutual weirdness and call it love.” – Dr. Seuss
Dr. Seuss was one smart cookie! We are all a little bit weird (some more than others), but it’s when we find people that can match our weirdness that magic happens. And I’m fortunate to have an abundance of magic in my life supplied by a genuine collection of oddballs. (You know who you are.) They keep me sane, understand my quirks, and are not phased by the randomness of my words or actions. For this, I love them.
The oddball who deserves the ultimate prize for putting up with all my shenanigans is my poor manfriend, Troy. And the ultimate prize just may include plenty of more days and nights with me! Total win, I know. It’s the prize that keeps on giving.
Anyways, Troy is truly a trooper for putting up with all my random thoughts that manifest as we are trying to sleep, via text message, and/or randomly in conversation. He never misses a beat and simply keeps on trekking. Hell, sometimes he even comes out with a little randomness of his own.
Lucky for you I have the memory of an elephant, so here are a few of my favs:
Me:I have a lot of gaps in my schedule today.
Troy: Sounded like you said you have a lot of gas in your schedule today.
There’s nothing like scheduled gas.
Me: How do you want to pay for this?
Troy: Well, I thought I would bring them a chicken and a bag of hay. That should do it
Laying in bed last night (in complete silence) trying to sleep:
Me: Why did the dad from Full House have TWO people move in to help raise the kids. Wouldn’t just one have been enough?
Troy: Because he had such a big house and had to be gone a lot.
We hadn’t even talked about Full House at all that day!
Random Texts:
The time he was at a wardrobe fitting to be an extra:
Troy: I look like a Weasley hobo
Me: Isn’t that just a Weasley?
Random texting in the afternoon:
Me: I don’t ever want to have 19 kids.
Troy: Ok. 18 will be fine.
Me: Ok. Just so we’re clear.
And that ladies and gentlemen is why we work. Who understands your weird quirks the best? Or puts up with them the most?
