Why You Should Give In To Wanderlust

wanderlust, say yes to travel, travel, why you should travel

Wanderlust is the strong desire to travel the world. A desire I know too well. It courses through my veins, fills my dreams and leaves me longing for places I’ve never been and people I’ve never met. And once you’ve been bitten by the travel bug, there’s no going back.

There are few things in life, like travel, that can dramatically turn your perception of the world and of yourself upside down and inside out. It gets inside you and unravels everything you thought you knew. Your world, as you know it, will never be the same.

History will come to life through the rubble of ancient ruins and the old, worn down streets of cities. Opposing cultures will force you to take a look at your own culture, beliefs and lifestyle. The struggles in other nations will open your eyes to the things you take for granted and the insignificance of many things that you once held so dear. You’ll gain an appreciation for the diversity across the globe. And each experience will help you evolve into a well-rounded and knowledgeable human being.

So don’t try to fight your wanderlust. Give in to it every once in a while. Take a journey. Have an adventure. And learn a little bit about yourself in the process.

  • I would love to travel to some other countries some day! The thing that stops me? Fear of flying! Haha! It’s a real struggle!

    • Haha. My mom and cousin have a huge fear of flying, but they managed to keep each other calm on a flight to London. So you can do it! 🙂 Perhaps sleeping pills might be in order? Or a cruise that visits different countries? Either way, I hope you get to visit many places!

  • We just got married but I cannot WAIT to just travel all over with my husband. Wanderlust is such a wonderful feeling!

    • It really is a wonderful feeling! 🙂 I hope you and your husband are able to have many travel adventures together.

  • This is a beautiful post.

  • How wonderfully expressed! I’m always craving somewhere new, I love the fresh perspective it provides.

    • Me too! It’s always such an eye opening experience. I’d spend all my time traveling if I could. 🙂

  • kathy@vodka and soda

yes! i plan to visit as many countries as i can before i die! we’re waiting for kayla to be a bit older so we can tour europe.

    • Touring Europe would be an awesome family experience! Since I studied abroad in London, my mom wants to use me as a tour guide around the UK when my dad retires. Hah. 🙂

  • ah it is so real. i just want to travel and see so much but honestly, the number one reason is money. we just dont have enough! lol. its hard, we bought a house, and i needed a car, sure we didn’t need to buy a house we could have stayed in the apartment, we could have bought a cheaper car, but we wanted one that would last. i want to fill my house up with pretty things. we can only really do big trips in the summer, but i am trying to organise smaller not so expensive trips throughout the year when we can. it adds up fast though!

    • Ugh, yes! Travel is so expensive! If I could afford it, I’d travel all day every day. Haha. 🙂
