Being sick has really knocked me on my ass and messed with my blogging schedule. I’ve even begun to wonder if posting a blog that encapsulated the essence of the brain during a cold would be entertaining. Essentially, it would read like this, “Zzzzz. Sniffle. Zzzz. Cough. Zzzzzzzzz.” And, honestly, that’s pure entertainment at its best. Or my brain still too fuzzy to realize that that is pure crap. You choose.
On the other hand, I have come to the conclusion that all that’s needed to perfect the art of sleeping is catching a measly cold that puts you in bed for 3 days. Sleeping Beauty has nothing on me! I mean, I am in love with naps and sleeping, but not even I knew I could sleep THAT much.
However, in the midst of my cold coma I did experience vague moments of coherence where my body still refused to participate in the world outside of my bedroom. So then the question became: What do you do when you’re stuck in bed for days?
Well, if you’re like me, you snooze through copious amounts of television catching only every other scene (if that) and snuggle with your fur babies. But here are a few other ideas to cure your sick day boredom:
Read a book/blog.
A sick day in bed is the perfect time to catch up on your reading. So browse your favorite blogs. Grab that latest novel you’ve been meaning to read. Or better yet grab that trashy novel that is your favorite guilty pleasure. Sick days are the perfect excuse to indulge in some guilty pleasures!
Binge watch Netflix.
Watch movies, catch up on your favorite TV shows, or watch them all over again from the start. After all you’ve got all the time in the world when you’re sick in bed.
Surf those channel waves.
If you prefer the cable/satellite experience, grab the remote and channel surf for something good. Personally, I may have caught up on Teen Mom 2. Hey, I said it was great time for guilty pleasures!
Plan your next vacation.
Grab your laptop, Ipad, or smart phone and search the internet for travel destinations and good deals. It will definitely give your spirits a little lift to daydream about your next travel adventure.
Engage your inner detective (or creeper) and check out some old pals on Facebook. It’s a fantastic time to catch up with old friends who have fallen by the wayside during your busy schedule.
Post endless amounts of sick day photos on Instagram.
What better way to entertain yourself than by playing with the filters on Instagram?! Plus, you can totally milk that sick day for all its worth by making people feel sorry for you. Okay, maybe not, but it’s still fun.
Tweet about your misery.
Want more sympathy? Just tweet about all the aches and pains you’re feeling. The get well messages will be pouring in in no time! Plus, you can vent your frustrations and get some form of social interaction.
Perfect your snuggling technique.
I spent my entire time in bed snuggled up to my two fur babies. They may have disrupted my sleep a few times, but we definitely got our snuggling technique down! So snuggle up with your significant other or fur baby. It will make you feel tons better.
