Wanderlust Wednesday: Fictional Edition

A while back I read Steph’s awesome post about her favorite fictional places and I knew that I had to share mine. I’ve spent countless hours daydreaming about far off places that I’ve learned about in books, movies and TV shows. While there are definitely some that I would avoid like the plague, these are the ones that I would love to step into:

wanderlust, travel

1. Hogwarts

I’d be all up in Hogwarts – every forbidden hallway, room and location. I’m nosy like that. And who needs to focus on learning math or literature when you can learn how to fly a broom and toss back a few butterbeers. 😉

2. Neverland

Growing up my cousins and I spent hours re-enacting Peter Pan, so this fictional land is a must. Plus, I could stay eternally young. Total win.

3. Downton Abbey

I’d probably be in the servants wing, but I’d be happy to just listen to the Dowager Countess speak. That lady cracks me up.

4. Stars Hollow

If a town like this existed, I would want to move there STAT. I’d eat burgers at Luke’s, read in the town square, and enjoy the absurdity of Taylor at the town meetings.

5. Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory

It has chocolate in its name, enough said. chocolate, willy wonka

6. Baker Street

I love me some Sherlock, especially if he looks like Benedict Cumberbatch. I’d definitely be grabbing my magnifying glass and channeling my inner Watson if I had the chance to visit Sherlock. 😉

7. Pemberley

I would love to wander the beautiful grounds of Pemberley. I swear I could get lost in the amazing house for days and still be content. I’d be even more content if Mr. Darcy was right beside me. 😉

8. Firefly Universe

Who wouldn’t want to travel the universe in a spaceship?! It would be the ultimate travel destination.

9. Narnia

A place where I can talk to animals and they actually talk back?! Yes, please. My conversations with my pups would be so much more productive if they could answer my questions. Of course, then they just might confirm the fact that I’ve been annoying the hell out them for years.

narnia, rat terrier

10. Muppet Baby Nursery

Those babies knew how to have adventures! Plus, they always made it home for snack and nap time. What more could a girl want?

What’s on your fictional travel list? What fantasy worlds do you love?

  • Such a great idea for a post 🙂 I think Narnia would be my favourite!
    ~ Marcella

    • I think Narnia would be such a beautiful place to visit. 🙂 And I’d want to be friends with ALL the animals.

  • This is the best post idea!! For me, it’d totally be Hogwarts (I was obsessed with Hermione all through my teenage years!) and Stars Hollow – I loved Gilmore girls and always wished the small town I grew up in was just like that!

    • Hermione was awesome! I just wish she had ended up with Harry instead of Ron. If I was one of the students at Hogwarts, I’d want to be in their circle of friends. LOL. And I think it’d be awesome to live in a place like Stars Hollow. 🙂

  • kathy@vodka and soda

we’re going to disney on sunday and we were trying to figure out if we should go to hogwards/hogsmeade but kayla is too small for the rides there still 🙁

i will be making my way to the east coast in the next 5 yrs to visit PEI and the anne of green gables site/area 🙂

    • Aww, it sucks that she’s still too small for those rides. Maybe you can take turns riding the rides. 🙂 Or just make your hubby entertain Kayla, while you go get your Harry Potter on. Haha.

I totally forgot about Anne of Green Gables! That was one of my favorite books and shows growing up. 🙂 You must go and tell me all about it! Have fun at Disney!

  • Hogwarts would definitely be at the top of my list. That snickers picture almost made me spit out my coffee.

    • Haha. I’m glad that I could make you laugh. I think it’s an accurate portrayal of my chocolate addiction. 🙂

  • Hogwarts would be on my list too!! I think this is such a fun post topic. The Muppet Baby one is totally left field…would not have guessed that one 🙂

    • Haha. I loved Muppet Babies when I was growing up! Whenever I was home sick from school, which was a lot, I would make sure to watch Muppet Babies. 🙂

  • Oh my gosh I loved this! I might have to steal this idea for a future post! I’m right there with you for Hogwarts…let’s explore together!

    • Let’s do it! 😀 It would be so much fun to go exploring around Hogwarts. Imagine all the crazy things we’d find!

  • heyyyy Pemberley! lol I wish, gosh I wish. why isnt time travel a thing? I want to meet my buddy Jane.

    • That would be incredible! Of course, I think we’d stick out a little bit. Have you seen the movie Austenland? It’s about a girl who’s obsessed with Jane Austen who goes to Austenland for an ‘Austen’ experience. LOL.

  • YES to the Muppet Babies nursery (and the sound stage for the original Muppet Show!) and the chocolate factory. I’m on the fence about going to Hogwarts but I’d like to visit Charming (from Sons of Anarchy) so maybe I’m not the best person to comment on this.

    • I’m so glad I’m not the only Muppet lover around! 😀 I’m not sure I’d like to visit Charming though. I think I’d probably get caught in the crossfire. Hah.

  • so fun! I would go to Narnia!

    • Narnia would be incredible! Imagine all the beauty we’d see and friends we’d meet. 🙂

  • #1, #2, #5, #9!

    YES, yes, yes!! <3
Love the idea behind this, such a cool idea. Really enjoyed it

    • I’m glad you enjoyed this post. 🙂 And how awesome would it be if we could actually visit these places?! I’d sign up for tours in a heartbeat.

  • I would love to visit Hogswarst, neverland and Narnia! So funny! I’m just like a big overgrown kid when it comes to those movies and fantasy land.

    • Oh, I’m a big kid too! Life’s a lot more fun when you can still enjoy fantasy. 🙂

  • All the yes, and almost all the places! Neverland, Willy Wonka’s Factory and Narnia would totally be on my list! What a great post idea!

    • That would be the trip of a lifetime! Eating all the candy in the Wonka factory, making animal friends in Narnia, and flying around Neverland. 🙂

  • Great list! Downton is definitely on mine…I look forward to January because I know it will be back!

    • I’m so excited for Downton Abbey to come back! It feels like it’s been forever. 🙂 Thanks for letting me borrow your post idea! It was pretty genius.
