Awesome Group Halloween Costumes

Halloween is just around the corner, which means it’s time to get creative! Frankly, some of the most creative and fun Halloween costumes that I have rocked have been a part of a group or couple theme.

In high school, I dressed up as Pebbles while the rest of my friends completed the Flintstone and Rubble families. We went trick or treating and walked around singing the Flintstone theme song all night. I swear it earned us some serious candy! As part of a couple, I have been a vampire, fallen angel, and the Joker. Apparently, I have no problem joining the dark side.

Since I’ve enjoyed group costumes so much, I thought I’d share a few brilliant group costume ideas with you today. So grab your friends and pick a theme.

The Sanderson Sisters

Hocus Pocus is a Halloween classic! And these 3 ladies just happen to be everyone’s favorite witches, so why not grab 2 of your friends and bring these ladies back to life for one more Halloween. Of course, if you just happen to have a virgin lying around, you might want to recruit them to light the candle that will bring you back. Just remember come sunrise you might be toast.

Mario Kart

This costume theme will let everyone join in the fun. Much like the game, you just have to pick your character – Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Yoshi, etc. Then get creative. Decorate your bikes to race around town or design cars out of cardboard to be your vehicles. Just remember, don’t drink and race.

Disney Princesses

Every since the premiere of Once Upon a Time, Disney Princesses have been making a comeback. And it seems like there are more being added almost every few years, so everyone can pick a favorite princess to embody for Halloween.

You can choose to go with the classic princess look or you can make them all your own – hipster, steampunk, goth, zombie. The sky’s the limit!

Spice Girls

You and your friends can spice up your night with a little girl power in the form of Posh, Baby, Sporty, Ginger, and Scary Spice. After all, you know you still know their songs by heart. Don’t try to deny it. And if you need a few extra Spice Girls, create your own – Pumpkin Spice, Cinnamon Spice, Corporate Spice. Go crazy with it! Who knows, maybe you’ll find your Beckham before the night is through.

Barden Bellas

If you’re looking for a more updated girl group, then throw on a blue blazer and tie a yellow scarf around your neck to join the Barden Bellas. They’re aca-awesome! You can even take the theme further by including the Treblemakers, but be prepared for people to ask for an impromptu sing-off.

Orange is the New Black

Orange-is-the-New-BlackBring out your inner creeper or tough girl by dressing up as the guys and gals from Orange is the New Black. Not only will everybody recognize you in your prison gear, but you’ll be a lot more comfortable than those women in stiletto heels!

Big Bang Theory

Bust out your Bazinga tees and embrace your inner nerd to bring the characters of the Big Bang Theory off the screen. Comic books, SchrΓΆdinger’s cat, Will Wheaton and the Cheesecake Factory are all appropriate topics of conversation when embodying this intelligent group. And if you’re dressing up as a couple, just choose your favorite Big Bang couple – Sheldon & Amy, Leonard & Penny, or Howard & Bernadette.

Bob’s Burgers

This fun group costume is perfect for families and friends. All you need is Gene’s burger costume, Louise’s bunny hat, Bob’s apron, Linda’s well stacked rack (of spices), Tina’s love of zombie erotica and you’re set! If you want to expand your group, make sure to include Jimmy Jr., the twins, and other awesome characters.

  • kathy@vodka and soda

i did one group costume years ago wtih a bunch of friends – we were tetris pieces that actually fit together! it was a hoot and i wish i could find that picture πŸ™

    • I’ve seen a couple of pictures of tetris costumes. They’re fantastic! I hope you find the picture I really want to see your costume. πŸ™‚ Another fun one that I’ve seen is the rollercoaster costume.

  • Mario or Spice Girls all the way!

  • God, those are amazing! I wish I was that creative!

    • Seeing all the creative costumes is one of my favorite parts of Halloween. πŸ™‚ And I’m sure you could come up with an awesome costume if you really put your mind to it!

  • these are such great ideas, i would love to dress up as disney princesses with a group of friends. spice girls would be fun too, seeing as my friends and I always do a ‘spice girls’ pose when we’re together.

    • I would love to dress up as Belle! I’m not quite sure my friends would want to be princesses though. πŸ™‚ If you already do the Spice Girls pose, I think the costume is perfect for y’all! Which Spice Girl would you be?

  • Group costumes are my fav! I love the OINTB one!

    • I love OITNB so this costume is one of my favorites! Plus, I think it would be so comfortable. πŸ™‚

  • Seriously, the second I read “Mario Brothers”, someone walked by with something that made the sound when Mario hits a brick to collect a coin. One year, my husband, his sister, and her husband dressed up as Mario characters. I was the princess. It was awesome. This year, I, the hubs and the kids are all dressing up as octopus because my son requested to be a purple octopus. The Big Bang Theory one is awesome though! Next year!

    • Haha! That’s such perfect timing! Did you pick colors for the costumes after all? I remember you were looking for ideas. I’m excited to see how they turn out. I’m sure y’all will look amazing.

  • OMG I love the Spice Girls idea!! We’ve thought of going as the Sanderson sisters but those costumes kill our idea. They’re fantastic and look so much like the originals!

    • You should still be the Sanderson sisters! It’s such a fun idea, no matter what the costumes look like. I guarantee people will love it! πŸ˜€

  • Love that Orange is the New Black group! It’s so perfect!

  • My favorite is the Sanderson sisters, how awesome. Probably the best Halloween movie ever!

    • Hocus Pocus is definitely a Halloween classic! I watch it every year. πŸ™‚

  • Michael

The Sanderson Sisters costumes are ON POINT! And I love the Mario kart and Disney princesses ones.

    • I know! They did such an amazing job on their costumes! I think I may need to step up my costume game. Hah. πŸ™‚

  • I’ve never dressed up as a group, but it looks so much fun. πŸ™‚ Maybe I should get my hubby on dressing up as Shrek and Fiona? πŸ™‚ This year I’m going to dress up as a Valkyrie due to my home country Norway’s mythology. πŸ™‚

    • Shrek and Fiona would be an awesome couples costume! And a Valkyrie?! That’s awesome! I love that you’re going with your country’s mythology. I can’t wait to see your costume.
