We should ALL dare to be different.
In a society where we are constantly bombarded with perfectly sculptured images of beautiful men and women, it becomes increasingly difficult to shut out all of the voices telling us how we should look, who we should be, what we should like, and who and what we should want and love. Our own desires, thoughts, and voices are often lost amongst the screams demanding absolute perfection in an imperfect world. But our desires are significant. Our thoughts are our own. And our voices should be heard.
Creating a perfect idealized society would rid the world of what is truly beautiful – our distinctions and imperfections. By conforming our lives, minds, and bodies to a warped concept of absolute beauty, we are discarding the beauty within us all. There is no beauty within a society of clones where everyone maintains the same lifestyle and appearance. On the contrary, there is boredom, misery, and de-evolution. The true beauty that lies within our society stems from our diversity, our imperfections, and our array of personalities/appearances.
We should celebrate our distinct personalities, lives, and opinions. We all have a right to love how we look, love who we love, and choose our own paths in life. Our society may not be able to appreciate this, but we can. And together we may be able to fashion a more open and accepting society that will celebrate the beauty in each and every one of our lives.
You are beautiful in your imperfection. And so am I. Your life is yours to decorate and create with all the colors of the rainbow. So don’t shut out your own voice. Be proud of who you are inside and out. Embrace the differences in others. And embrace difference in yourself.
Dare to be different. Dare to be you.
How will you color the world today? Will you dare to be you?
