Around Town: Phil Hardberger Park

Around Town is a series where I take you on a tour of my latest home, San Antonio, Texas, a city rich in history, culture, and Tex-Mex food. So grab your sombrero, put on your boots, and let’s get exploring!

After a busy day of work, all I want to do is sink into my couch and lose myself in a book or TV show, but tonight Keesah has decided to serenade me, which really just entails her barking repeatedly at the broom that’s leaning against the wall. I’m sure she’s really just trying to tell me that I need to get my shit together and clean. She’s a bossy little thing! Or maybe she’s saying she feels like Cinderella and wants a night out on the town. Either way, I think it may be time to take Keesah and Chubby for a play date at the dog park again.

Phil Hardberger Park

With easy walking trails, pet friendly water fountains and separate fenced areas for large and small dogs, Phil Hardberger Park is my favorite place to let my furbabies run free. Not only is there ample shade for those hot sunny days, but you can chat with fellow dog lovers as you lounge in the shade. Personally, I enjoy getting in a few laps around the trails with my little ones before I set them free in the dog park.

The small dog section of the dog park has an agility ramp and an adorable 2-story dog house that I wish I could get Keesah and Chubby to climb on their own (my dogs are awfully lazy). The large dog area sports an awesome fountain that is the source of a lot playtime. Big or small, your furbabies will adore this park!

For those of you with kiddos, there is also a really nice playground for the little ones to play. So, head on over. Take a stroll along the trails. Let the tykes monkey around on the playground. Set your furbabies free for a super adorable play date. Or all of the above. It’s a win win all around.

What is your favorite place to visit with your (fur)babies? Are there any nice parks in your area?
