2015 Came In Like A Wrecking Ball

2015, wrecking ball

Can you believe it’s March? I can’t. It seems like this year is flying by without a care in the world, while the rest of us mere mortals struggle to keep up. Well, 2015, you shall not pass … without us first enjoying a few more blogs and good times.

Only three months in and the year has already been a roller-coaster. I’m pretty sure Miley sent her wrecking ball my way when she finished air drying. That is what she was doing, right?

In true wrecking ball fashion, life has been filled with with broken glasses, expensive auto repairs, and an unexpected 45 day move out notice from our landlord delivered on Valentine’s Day. These days I spend more time dealing with the wreckage that is 2015 than doing anything else, like blogging.

Naturally, I wallowed in self-pity, which may have included a drunk Skype date with the bestieIt’s not considered drinking alone if you’re Skyping, is it?

It wasn’t until I was relaying my horrible misfortune to my mom that I finally came out of my funk.

“It’s a year of changes.”  – Mom

It was a simple phrase, an observation, something she probably doesn’t even remember saying, but those five words brought me back from the bog of eternal funk. This is a year of changes. Some I planned, like becoming a vegetarian. Others rained down upon me as wreckage. But in a period change, I must accept the bad with the good.

Change isn’t always easy or wanted, but it can reap awesome rewards. I broke my glasses, but I gained the opportunity to review this great site. My bank account took a hit when I repaired my car, but I was finally able to sell it for a decent price. I have to pack up and move, but I get to purge all the extra stuff in my life. And who knows, maybe I’ll find a better home.

2015 is definitely a year of changes for Eternally Wanderlyn, too. I have big plans for this little blog of mine. Not only will it reflect some of the changes in my life, such as learning to manage a vegetarian lifestyle surrounded by meat eaters, but it’ll also get a facelift and spawn some new series. I can’t wait to share these changes with you!

I’m excited and a little scared to see what else 2015 has in store for me and the blog, but mostly I’m happy to be back. So stay tuned, readers, there’s a wrecking ball coming your way!

How is your year going so far? Do you have any big changes happening this year? Tell me all about it in the comments below.

One of my favorite quotes is “There are years that ask questions, and years that answer.” (Zora Neale Hurston). When I look back, it’s typically years of big change – some initiated by me, some put upon me by life and circumstance – that ask the questions, and the following year that answers with adjustments of all kinds.

No matter what, change brings growth. Never a bad thing!

That quote is perfect! This year will definitely be one of the questioning years, but hopefully next year will make up for it. :) I hope a lot of growth comes out of these changes! haha.

I’ve never been a fan of change… but every time I’ve been afraid of it, it’s usually made me a better person anyway. Best to embrace it! :)

    • http://www.wanderlyn.com/ Lynsey @ Eternally WanderLyn

Right?! It’s when it’s forced on us that we hate it the most, but eventually we’re better people for having to deal with it. Hah.

Your landlord sucks, but I hope it paves the way for a lovely new home.

    • http://www.wanderlyn.com/ Lynsey @ Eternally WanderLyn

Thanks, lovely! It did royally suck! Talk about a bad Valentine’s Day. It annoyed me even further that I had asked to renew my lease for 1 year back in December. She said she’d send it over to me, but never did. So now that her situation has changed, she is kicking us out.

Yikes! I knew you had been having some troubles but I can’t believe the housing situation! I’m glad you’re taking it and all the changes in stride. Hopefully you’ve experienced all the bad in 2015 in one short little burst of time instead of spread out over the year. I’m excited to have you back in the blogosphere though :)

    • http://www.wanderlyn.com/ Lynsey @ Eternally WanderLyn

Oh, I’m hoping I got all the bad out of the way for the year, too! Maybe it will be nothing but good or at least boring from here on out. Hah. :)

Thanks! I’m excited to be back. My break took a little longer than expected when my laptop charger decided it wanted to retire. 😉

Change can be refreshing, although I do have to admit that sometimes I don’t deal with it well :(. Fingers crossed you find an amazing new home. Can’t wait to read about how the rest of the year treats you, it better be good or I’ll kick its butt cause you deserve awesomeness :) X x

LOL. Thanks, lovely! You’re very sweet. 😀 I hope 2015 is an awesome year for you, too.

What an adorable graphic! Moms are so full of wisdom :). Sorry about the car & renting situation. I would totally be screaming at either, and melting down if it all happened at once! Good for you for having a great attitude. Please share your journey to becoming a vegetarian. In 2015, the biggest changes will be my daughter starting full time daycare, and my son preparing for kindergarten in Sept. Gosh, time flies!

    • http://www.wanderlyn.com/ Lynsey @ Eternally WanderLyn

Oh, wow! Your kids are growing so fast! Pretty soon you’ll be sharing all your pearls of wisdom with them. :)

    • http://www.wanderlyn.com/ Lynsey @ Eternally WanderLyn

Wow! Congratulations! I’m sure the first 3 month were a blur for you, but now you can enjoy the rest of the year as a newlywed. :)

  • http://www.coffeewineandwanderlust.com/ Tabitha @Coffee, Wine and Wand

I can’t believe it is March already either! It is amazing what a little perspective can do to help with our outlook. So glad to see that you have found a way to see the positive side of stuff as well. :)

    • http://www.wanderlyn.com/ Lynsey @ Eternally WanderLyn

Thanks, Tabitha! Sometimes it just takes someone to make you look at things a little differently. I’m lucky to have had my mom to do that for me. I hope 2015 is good to you!

The year is going pretty fast. Mums know best and while changes are hard (and suck – I know all too well) when you embrace them they can be awesome. Heres to a great 2015!!

    • http://www.wanderlyn.com/ Lynsey @ Eternally WanderLyn

Cheers to that! I’m embracing all the changes in hopes that they lead to great things. I hope 2015 is amazing for you!

  • http://thepineapplecake.com Andrea

So happy you’re back and I am looking forward to your blog changes.
Aren’t moms the best for advice? They don’t even realize what they are saying can make all the difference sometimes.
Hope March is the month for turn around. I’m sure things are going to fall right into place.

    • http://www.wanderlyn.com/ Lynsey @ Eternally WanderLyn

Thanks, Andrea! I’m so happy to finally be back. This month will be crazy busy, but I’m hoping things will start looking up, too. :) I hope your year is amazing so far!

I just said in my last post, I have to set the reset button on 2015! It’s been a year, and I’m trying to drag myself out of the funk :) Best of luck on the move, goodness that is always stressful. Sometimes it seems that when it rains it pours, but so glad you are able to pull out the positive!!

    • http://www.wanderlyn.com/ Lynsey @ Eternally WanderLyn

Thanks! We’re still trying to find a place. It seems we’re having horrible luck. One place wouldn’t accept “roommates” which they labeled us because we’re not married. Another was rented the day after I saw it. And this last one we put in an application and then the owner decided to sell it instead. It’s been a busy time around here! Lol. I hope your year gets better, too! You deserve a great year.
