10 Signs You’re a Dog Mom

Before venturing down the path to parenthood, they recommend caring for a plant and working your way up to a pet. Well, I’m pretty sure my lack of a green thumb could kill a cactus, so I went straight for dog mom status where I quickly learned just how much dogs resemble babies. And since these are the only kids I plan on having, it wasn’t long until I found myself becoming obsessed with head over heels for my furry companions. I slept, ate and danced with dogs. I’m pretty sure I have now been labeled the crazy dog lady, but I’ve learned that I’m not the only one. So here are some ways that you can tell if you’re a fellow dog mom:

You might be a dog mom if . . .

1. Your Instagram account has been taken over by pics of your fur babies.

2.Your dog’s wardrobe is almost larger than your own.

  • Oh goodness…asking Boomer about his day! I do that all the time, lol. He does not get to sleep in bed with me though. Just right next to me on the floor. Loved this!!

    • Haha. I’m so glad I’m not the only one who has conversations with her dog! πŸ™‚

  • basically replace dog with cat and thats my life lol

  • Love this post!! So cute πŸ™‚

  • Oh yeah….I now check in with my dog when I first get home before my husband. To be fair- she does greet me at the door and is SO EXCITED TO SEE ME. Not that he isn’t…but still. haha!

    • Haha! No one will EVER be as excited to see you as your dog! I pretty much accept the fact that Troy has to say hi to the pups first when he gets home from work. πŸ™‚

  • Amy

I am 100% a dog mom! We have baby gates galore in the house. I couldn’t imagine sleeping without my springer spaniel snuggled right in between me and boyfriend.

    • Oh, yes. The bed is not complete without my pups in between my boyfriend and I. πŸ™‚ Chubby also enjoys pretending to be a teddy bear, so he makes an awesome snuggling buddy.

  • Do you know, I usually know animals’ names over people’s on IG? ‘Oh yeah, there’s Buffy that cute tortoiseshell, who belongs to erm…..thingy.’

So I’m all about the dog photos! Moarrrrrrrrr. πŸ™‚

    • Haha! I do that with people in real life! I’ll describe a person by their pet (ie. you know the girl with the bulldog). LOL.

  • Too funny (and true)! We own an embarrassing number of baby gates for people with no human babies.

    • Haha. I even own one of those large baby gates that can be formed into a playpen! That’s when you know it’s bad. πŸ™‚

  • kathy @ vodka and soda

ha! this is cute. i’m sure if i had a dog, i’d do the same things πŸ™‚

    • LOL. Pets bring out our maternal instincts. Or at least it gives us something to brag about on Instagram. lol

  • Amanda

Bahahahaha! I’m DEFINITELY a dog mom! NAILED it!

  • This is so me too! Seamus is always taking over my Instagram! Pet hair is never far from every outfit. I also find “babysitters” for when I’ll be away.

    • Haha. Yes! We enlisted a “babysitter” for our next trip in October. πŸ™‚

  • YES to all of these!!! I’m definitely a dog mom and proud of it!

    • You should be proud to be a dog mom! The world needs more of us. πŸ™‚

  • I would also add you can’t get a second to yourself on this list πŸ™‚ Since we have moved and I’m at home, Sam (our dog) follows me around to no end…can’t even go in the bathroom without him trying to follow πŸ™‚

    • Haha. That’s so true! Even when I take a bath my two pups are creeping on me. They lie down right next to the tub. πŸ™‚ It’s like an endless game of follow the leader.

  • LOL, draw me like one of your french girls ;). So funny! Yep, these are tell-tale signs. It was us until we had human babies.
